1. Preheat an oven to 320F.
2. Heat the butter in a large, heavy skillet
and cook the breadcrumbs until they are golden brown and
crisp.
3. Put the breadcrumbs into a bowl and mix with the sugar.
4. Place about a third of the breadcrumbs into a deep
ovenproof dish.
5. Cover the breadcrumbs with half of the plums.
6 . Follow with another third of the breadcrumbs, then
the remainder of the plums, finishing off with the rest
of the crumbs on top.
7. Bake in the center of the oven for about 45 to 50 minutes
