    Ingredients

    Hot Beaked Wardens
    6 Large firm Pears
    1/2 Bottle of Red Wine
    1 oz Brown Sugar
1 Pn each of Cinnamon, Ginger and Saffron

Baked Pears are ever popular and this old recipe from Worcester is no exception. It calls for the Worcester Black Pear but can easily be made with any good firm pear.

The Worcester Black Pear is very slow to cook, taking up to two hours, so if you are substituting reduce the cooking time to 20-30 minutes

References to the Worcester Black Pear in local recipes go back as far as the 13th Century
